Device Implantation & Management
The cardiologists at Metro Health Heart & Vascular are trained for diagnosing, monitoring and treating cardiovascular diseases, while also managing device implants.
Irregular heartbeats (cardiac arrhythmias) can cause fainting. An implantable loop recorder saves a recording of the heart rhythms before, during and after a fainting episode, which can evaluated by a physician to help determine the cause of fainting.
If an irregular heartbeat is detected, your physician may use an electrical shock (cardioversion) to reset it. Electrodes are placed on your chest that send an electrical shock straight to your heart. For most people, a cardioversion quickly restores a normal heart rhythm.
Metro Health has a variety of tools at their disposal to treat a heart that’s beating too fast or too slow:
- Implantable pacemakers
- Implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICD)
- Implantable loop recorder
To maintain your implanted device, Metro Heart & Vascular offers a pacemaker/ICD device clinic for follow-up evaluations to ensure that your unit is working correctly and effectively.
